Anniversary Open Championship of the Velkonis club (Ventspils, Latvia)

Dear heads of regional federations and branches!

I ask you to take a responsible approach to participating, in one form or another, in the anniversary (25th) Open Championship of the Velkonis club in Ventspils on 02.06.2018.

Pulling on grass is historically the original discipline and the most popular one in the world. Unfortunately, it is not developed in Russia, and pulling outdoors in sneakers is not the same thing. For your information, World, European and continental championships are held separately for grass and indoor. At the World Games, men pull on grass and women indoors. Open club tournaments and commercial tournaments are also mostly held on grass. So we need to actively catch up with the rest of the world.

Men up to 720 and 680, mixed up to 600.

The level of participation can vary. It can be teams (so far, 2 regions have expressed interest) or simply representatives coming to gain experience.

We have a preliminary agreement for a short training session with an experienced athlete on June 1.
On the 3rd there will be an in-depth practical seminar.
The organizers ask for entries to be submitted by May 1.

Footwear is a serious issue. I suggest making it by hand from army boots by attaching a steel plate to the heel. For the time being, this is a cheap and practical option. The official TWIF footwear requirements can be found in the "Documents" section.
