Udmurtia's government pulls the rope
The 26th Republican Winter Rural Games took place in Zavyalovo District of Udmurtia on March 5–8
As part of the games, the 1st Winter Sports Festival "Team Udmurtia" was held, with more than 40 members of the republic's government taking part: ministers and heads of the cities and districts of Udmurtia. The motto of the rural games, "Energy! Aspiration! Victory!", fully matched the intensity and excitement of the tug of war contests in valenki (felt boots).
"I've had my fill, and then some!" was how Yaroslav Semyonov, Chairman of the Government of Udmurtia, summed up the tournament. The winner was the team led by Alexander Varshavsky, Minister of Physical Culture, Sport and Youth Policy of the Udmurt Republic. Four teams took part (each made up of 9 men and 1 woman).
The sports event was held in support of the national program "Sport Is the Norm of Life".
