More than 1,000 participants visited the tug of war area at the sports festival dedicated to the 31st All-Russian Olympic Day

On August 8, a sports festival dedicated to the 31st All-Russian Olympic Day and the 40th anniversary of the Games of the XXII Olympiad in Moscow was held at the Luzhniki sports complex.

As part of the festival, the Russian Tug of War Federation set up a sports area and held a tournament open to everyone, in which more than 1,000 people took part. Participants were introduced to the technique, given practical skills and supervised on the correct performance of the exercises by bronze medalists of the Under-23 Tug of War World Championships Andrei Skoromnov, Anastasia Chitalina and Anisiya Dubinets.

It is worth recalling that at the beginning of the 20th century tug of war was part of the Olympic Games program. Today the sport is part of the World Games program, and the Tug of War International Federation (TWIF), a member of the Association of IOC Recognised International Sports Federations (ARISF), is seeking the return of tug of war to the Olympic program.
