Tug of war at the final of the Rosneft Spartakiad

Yesterday (August 5, 2007), the final stage of the 3rd Spartakiad of the Rosneft oil company took place at the Yantar Stadium in Moscow.
In the presence of Sergei Bogdanchikov, President of OAO NK Rosneft, the final tug of war bout for 1st–2nd place, organized by the Russian Tug of War Federation, was held between the teams of Kabardino-Balkarian TK and Smolensknefteprodukt. In a hard-fought and spectacular bout, the Kabardino-Balkarian TK team won.
Some time later, the same teams came out onto the field again to decide who would win the Prize of the President of OAO NK Rosneft. This time the Smolensknefteprodukt athletes proved stronger.
According to the chief referee of the competitions, RTWF Secretary General Boris Grishin, both teams showed good technique and skill. Boris Grishin also said that the federation plans to bring club teams into the regular championships of Russia, Europe and the world.
