Minehead welcomed national tug of war teams from around the world

Unfortunately, the Russian delegation was unable to take part in these events because some members of the delegation were refused visas.
Representatives of 18 countries took part in the competitions.
TWIF decided to hold the Junior World Championships every year. This year 12 countries entered 20 teams in the Championships.
The first to show their skills were more than 170 club teams of various age categories.
The open club competitions began in cloudy weather, but this did not affect the athletes' spirits.
The second day of the competitions was attended by a distinguished guest, Her Royal Highness Princess Anne, the monarch's eldest daughter. This is a great honor for our sport. Princess Anne is a member of the International Olympic Committee and has extensive experience in sport: she competed at the 1976 Olympic Games in Montreal and has held various positions in sport, including at the International Equestrian Federation, of which she was president. She still takes an active part in the life of various sports associations, including the London 2012 Olympic Games Organizing Committee. Princess Anne took part in the award ceremony for the winners, a tug of war club from Germany in the junior 560 kg category. Perhaps this event helped Germany's national junior team win gold medals at the World Championships in the 560 kg weight category.
