Results of the Open All-Russian Absolute Tug of War Tournament dedicated to the Days of the Liberation of the Smolensk Region

On September 30, 2007, the Open All-Russian Absolute Tug of War Tournament dedicated to the Days of the Liberation of the Smolensk Region was held at the Spartak Stadium in Smolensk as part of the Sila Spravedlivosti (Strength of Justice) sports festival, with the direct participation of the Russian Tug of War Federation (chief referee of the competition: RTWF President Alexander Kuznetsov).

The strongest teams of the city of Smolensk and the Smolensk Region took part in the competition. The prize fund was 90,000 rubles. The tournament was won by the Slony (Elephants) team from Smolensk, whose athletes' appearance and size commanded their rivals' respect. The team showed good rope-handling technique and deservedly took first place. Second and third places went to the teams of the Energy Institute (Smolensk) and the Smolensk State Academy of Physical Culture and Sport, respectively. All teams received RTWF diplomas, which were ceremonially presented by Vladimir Gerasimov, head coach of the Russian national tug of war team.
The Russian Tug of War Federation thanks Yekaterina Nenazhenko, director of the ProSportMedia communications agency, Andrei Nagibin, event coordinator of the Sila Spravedlivosti project, and Leonid Ivanovich Teplyakov, director of the Spartak Stadium, for the excellent organization and staging of this event, which will forever remain in the memory of the many spectators who came to the Spartak Stadium that day as a true celebration of Smolensk sport.
