Day of the Physical Culture Worker at the Russian Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy

The Russian Tug of War Federation organized a tug of war competition at the sports festival marking the Day of the Physical Culture Worker at the Russian Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy.

The sports festival in honor of the Day of the Physical Culture Worker took place on August 12 on the football field of the State School of Higher Sports Excellence.
Teams from all departments of the Russian Ministry of Sport, Tourism and Youth Policy and guest teams – the Sport Engineering federal state unitary enterprise, the State School of Higher Sports Excellence and others – lined up for the opening ceremony.
The guests of honor were three-time Olympic champion Galina Gorokhova and four-time Olympic champion Alexander Tikhonov.
The participants competed in mini-football, table tennis, chess, checkers and backgammon. But in the general opinion of those present, the most spectacular and emotionally charged event was the team tug of war competition. It tested not only the players' physical strength but also the strength of their team spirit. The participants did not lack perseverance: the teams pulled the rope in a single surge, and it froze in place, unable to decide whose side to "take." The winners of the contest were staff of the Department of State Policy in Physical Culture and Sport. The competition was refereed by RTWF head coach Vladimir Gerasimov.
In addition, participants and spectators saw exhibition matches in women's rugby and korfball.
The sports festival ended with a ceremony honoring the winners and medalists. The tug of war awards were presented by RTWF President Alexander Kuznetsov.
